Sometimes, fate brings our best companions into our lives when we least expect it. This is how Sadie, our beloved “Torita,” and Zealand came into our lives and became part of our family.
La Torita's story began one summer night when Emiliano went to take out the trash. Upon reaching the entrance, he found a group of neighbors holding a small puppy. They told us that someone had thrown the dog from a car in front of our building. Sad and confused, the puppy was left there, seeking protection.
The neighbors called the police to check if she had a chip or any record that could help find her owners. After examining her, they confirmed that there was no trace of an owner. We asked if there was a shelter that could take her in, as we initially didn't know if we could keep her, but the officers suggested we keep her at least that night while we looked for a solution.
Without hesitation, we decided to take her home. That first night was a mix of emotions: sadness for what had happened, but also love and hope when we saw her innocent and grateful face. In the following days, we dedicated ourselves to contacting shelters and looking for options for her. However, something began to change.
Every moment with her won our hearts. Her sweetness, her grateful gaze, and that special way she sought affection made us realize that there was something more. When the day came to take her to a shelter, we went as planned, but despite seeing that it was a place with dedicated and trustworthy people, we couldn't leave her. We had grown too fond of her.
We decided to adopt Sadie and give her the loving home she deserved. From that moment, she became our Torita, an inseparable part of our family.
Her story, like that of so many puppies, inspired us to create this store and raise awareness about animal care, the responsibility of adoption, and helping shelters so that other dogs can find a home.
Today, Sadie is a happy, noble, and affectionate puppy who fills us with joy every day. She taught us that sometimes we don't choose our pets; they choose us.
On the other hand, Zealand's story is as cruel as it is inspiring and full of hope for many dogs.
Zealand was in a municipal kennel with hip dysplasia and malnutrition. He was rescued by a protective organization and operated on to give him a better quality of life and find a family for him.
He was adopted by a family and returned remorsefully, tied to the shelter door at night, with the excuse that the then 4-month-old puppy wouldn't play with their child.
We learned about his story through social media, and seeing his innocent face immediately reminded us of Sadie. That same day, we spoke with them and decided to adopt him.
At that moment, we thought we were saving another dog's life and expanding the family, bringing a playmate for our puppy and more love into our home.
Adoption is an act of love that changes lives, and we are fortunate to have found it. If you ever have the opportunity to rescue or adopt, do it! You could be saving a life and gaining a loyal friend forever.
